March 18th is All In For Equality Advocacy Day in Austin. GALA is once again chartering buses so that North Texas LGBTQ voices will be heard at the state capital.
The Texas Legislature is in session every other year for 140 calendar days. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has already advanced 2 bills targeting LGBTQ Texans in the Texas Senate. Conversely, Equality Texas is is working with champions of equality in the Texas Legislature to advance comprehensive non-discrimination protections for all LGBTQ Texans.
This is not a protest. This is an opportunity for YOU to ask state leaders to pass inclusive policies that protect all Texans, including our children; and end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.
No experience is necessary. We will provide training and you will be assigned to a group with an experienced leader.
Buses will be departing at 7 AM from Collin Creek Mall in Plano (75 & West Plano Parkway.) As we travel to Austin, you'll receive education on LGBTQ advocacy and enjoy breakfast. Upon arriving in Austin we'll gather with other LGBTQ advocates from across Texas, form groups, and visit the offices of our state representatives.
On the trip home we will celebrate our efforts and have snacks on the bus. You'll be back in DFW by 7:30 PM.
Don't miss this important and empowering event. We request a nominal registration fee of $15 to partially cover costs but nobody will be turned away for inability to pay. Email info@galantx.org for financial consideration.
